U.S. will take best efforts to support progress in Karabakh talks achieved in Sochi

The U.S. has already done much to resolve the Karabakh conflict and will do everything to support the progress made by the conflicting parties in Sochi, the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said.

"Before leaving Washington for Baku, I had a chance to discuss the Minsk Group process in the context of bilateral relations with President Obama and State Secretary Clinton,” said Bryza. “I witnessed that Washington seeks to take every necessary step to help the sides reach an agreement."

He noted that the U.S. shares interest in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Bryza characterized as an important achievement the statement made by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia reiterating commitment to peaceful settlement, and stressing the necessity to investigate incidents along the line of through the OSCE. The Ambassador also stressed the importance of agreement on the exchange of prisoners, Trend News reported.
