Turkish media workers march in Ankara in show of protest against arrest of journalists

2 thousand media members marched Saturday, March 19 in Ankara in a show of protest against the arrest of journalists, calling for the release of their 68 arrested colleagues and freedom for the press in Turkey.

According to Hurriyet, a statement released by the Freedom to Journalists Platform, comprised of 92 national and local professional groups, said they demanded the release of all arrested journalists including Nedim Sener and Ahmet Sık and amendments to the laws restricting press freedom.

There are still 68 journalists in prison, while there are more than 2,000 open court cases against journalists and media outlets, and more than 4,000 ongoing investigations, according to the platform.
