Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received Supachai Panitchpakdi, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference for Trading and Development (UNCTAD).

Mr. Sargsyan praised the contribution of UNCTAD to the development of Armenia’s economy, as well as the assistance provided by the organization to developing countries, its efforts aimed at increasing competitiveness and stability of these economies.

Panitchpakdi noted for his part that his visit to Armenia is of special importance due to two reasons. First, Armenia has become a WTO member state when he was this organization’s head. The second reason is the 10th anniversary of establishment of the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition and Panitchpakdi’s participation in an international conference dedicated to UNCTAD report in Yerevan.
