Turkey is trying to dominate Middle East, taking advantage of the absence of sole leader in the region, an Armenian expert said.

“Ankara wants to be a mediator between East and West and succeeds in its initiative. It will try the same policy in the South Caucasus, however, its bias regarding the Karabakh conflict is unacceptable for Armenia,” Ruben Melkonyan told a news conference on March 22.

The expert also emphasized that Turkey’s neo-Ottoman policy aims to increase Turkish influence throughout the Middle East. However, as he noted, some Arab countries aren’t delighted with it.

Commenting on the Libyan events, Melkonyan said: “On the one hand, Erdogan called on Gadhafi to listen to his people and quit. On the other hand, he spoke out against the allied military campaign, what helped his image on Libya.”
