Heritage party activity in parliament not related to Hovannisian’s hunger strike

Leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian said that resumption of Heritage parliamentary group members’ participation in the work of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) is not related to his hunger strike.

The party’s political council decided that Heritage will continue its struggle in all possible ways both in Liberty Square and National Assembly, Hovannisian told journalists.

According to Hovannisian, a relevant decision will be adopted during a sitting of Heritage parliamentary group and it is possible that members of Heritage will continue their work in the parliament without linking it to his hunger strike.

During the March 15 extraordinary congress of Heritage, Hovannisian urged Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to resign and thus to ensure fair and independent elections in the country. He also announced the start of “Hungry for Change: Freedom and Justice in Armenia” hunger strike and promised to coordinate his future steps with the party members.
