On March 28, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch visited the leader of the oppositional Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian who’s been on hunger strike starting March 15.

As the leader of Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net, “this has been a courtesy visit to the oppositional party leader.” As he noted, Ms. Yovanovitch inquired about Hovannisian’s health. The Ambassador did no try to persuade him to stop the strike, as that was Hovannisian’s “political decision.”
