Photo 3D app available at Nokia Ovi Store

Photo 3D app, developed by an outfit called Digital Footmark is available at Ovi Store, according to Ovi Daily App blog.

The depth that Photo 3D adds to standard 2D photos seems to extend away into the background. It’s all an illusion, but the process works well, all things considered.

First user should choose one of the photos stored in phone’s memory and open it in Photo 3D. Using finger people can build what the app calls a “depth map.” This means finger selects certain areas of the image to indicate to the program those that should appear further back from the flat surface, or plane, of the touchscreen and those that are closer.

Once this mapping is done, the app is able to show these different sections of the image moving in relation to each other as you move image to the left or right, or up and down. Perhaps this app will motivate people to explore 3D photography in general. The field happens to enjoy an enthusiastic, worldwide following.

Photo 3D app requires Symbian 5.0 or Symbian^3 touch phone. Photo 3D app is available at Ovi Store for $1.99 (USD).
