Head of the Fourth CIS States Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Kelin said that the possibility of “unfreezing” the Karabakh conflict is a matter, which is seriously considered by all those who are related to it.

First of all this refers to the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, as well as Russian leadership, Kelin told Voice of Russia radio station.

“You could see that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev personally deals with it [problem resolution], very actively,” said Kelin.

According to him, naturally, Russia combines its work with the activity of the officially authorized OSCE Minsk Group.

Kelin added that now Russia needs to take the initiative to lead the parties to a peace agreement step by step. “When principles are developed, preparation of a peace agreement based on these principles will be launched. And then positive developments are possible here,” concluded Kelin.
