Sargsyan: I personally asked Obama to say Genocide in April 24 address

It’s important for Armenia to hear the U.S. President say the term ‘Genocide’ in the April 24 statement, Armenian President said.

“I once personally asked President Obama to use the term ‘Genocide’ in his address on the Armenian Remembrance Day, but our wishes do not often coincide with the reality. Nevertheless, we do not give up efforts to that end,” Serzh Sargsyan said at a news conference in Yerevan.

During his election campaign, Barack Obama has pledged to recognize the Armenian Genocide. However, after the election he preferred to say “Mets Yeghern” instead of Armenian Genocide.
