Sardarapat movement seeks change of power in Armenia without elections

Sardarapat movement will strive towards the change of power in Armenia without participating in the ordinary of extraordinary elections, but through “direct” democracy, according to member of the movement, director Tigran Khzmalyan.

“The change of power is not something that can be achieved through elections,” he told a news conference in Yerevan, noting that the movement will not participate in the elections.

As Khzmalyan noted, Sardarapat believes current regime to be a dictatorship. “The dictators don’t come to power or leave their posts through elections,” he stressed.

Khzmalyan noted that the world is currently going through revolutionary changes, citing the events in Arabic states as an example. He urged the Armenian people to think out a plan of further actions, as that’s what Sardarapat will do.
