Artsakh authorities never set exact date for airport opening

Artsakh authorities never set exact date for the opening of Stepanakert airport.

“May 9 was never set as the opening date. These were just rumors that circulated quickly,” head of the central information department at the Artsakh presidential office David Babayan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

“The airport building as well as the takeoff and landing strip are ready for operation. There are some technical issues left,” he said.

Earlier, media reports suggested that the opening is set for May 9, Shushi liberation day. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said he will be the first passengers to land in the airport, thus responding to Azerbaijan’s threats to shoot down the Stepanakert-bound planes.
