The Ministry of Education and Science adopted last year a 2-year concept to combat corruption, envisaging 16 events to reduce corruption risks.

“Corruption in the education sector is conditioned by a number of factors, including insufficient financing, system of military service deferment, low quality of education and the legal field. Thus, a separate anti-corruption program should be developed for each university,” Minister Armen Ashotyan told a press conference on April 6.

For her part, USAID Armenia Mission Director, Dr. Jatinder Cheema noted that the USAID will facilitate reduction of corruption risks not only in education but also in other fields.

Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Sergey Kapinos, in turn, remarked that both government and young people should be engaged in the anti-corruption projects to achieve progress.
