ACNIS: Azeri threats to shoot down Artsakh-bound planes uncalculated

Armenian President Serzg Sargsyan’s intention to be the first passenger to land at the Stepanakert newly built airport is a kind of demarche, according to new director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS).

“Azerbaijan did not properly calculate its threats to shoot down Artsakh-bound civilian planes. However, these threats made the international community think over the seriousness of the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone,” Manvel Sargsyan told a press conference in Yerevan on April 7.

“Witnessing the reaction of Armenia and world powers, Azerbaijan was forced to change tactics and ease tensions,” he said.
