‘The Imam’s Army’ banned book becomes bestseller in Turkey

‘The Imam’s Army’, the banned and placed on the web book of arrested journalist Ahmet Sik, became the most popular one in Turkey.

Lawmakers and officials of both ruling and opposition parties read it.

Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nihat Ergun admitted that he has downloaded the book from Internet and read it, Hurriyet reported.

In March, the criminal court of Istanbul made a decision on annihilation of electronic versions of the unpublished book – The Imam’s Army. Turkish law enforcers conducted searches in editorial offices of papers and printing houses.

Recently, the book’s original was placed on the web and downloaded by 100,000 users within several hours.
