War in Karabakh may cost too much for Aliyev’s clan, expert says

Political analyst, head of Democracy and Collaboration Institute, New York department, Andranik Mihranyan said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is the most vulnerable leader in the post-Soviet area.

“Resumption of hostilities in Karabakh is a serious matter, but violation of the current status-quo is unlikely, since neither Washington nor Brussels is interested in it,” Mihranyan said in his lecture at Armenian State Pedagogical University.

According to him, despite his threats of war, the Azerbaijani leader understands that the new hostilities will have unpredictable consequences which may turn fatal for Aliyev’s clan and cost several billion dollars.
