Armenia is among the few post-Soviet states where no large-scale violence was used to retain power, according to political analyst, head of Democracy and Collaboration Institute, New York department, Andranik Mihranyan.

Commenting on the possibility of repeating the Arab scenarios in Armenia, the expert noted, “it wouldn’t be right to say someone was attempting to usurp power in Armenia. Besides there are no interethnic conflicts or excess human resources in the country. Certainly, at present Armenia is facing demographic, social and economic problems in complicated geopolitical circumstances. Still, even in this situation one can find a way out.”

Mihranyan characterized destabilization attempts through organization of rallies as unacceptable, noting the change of power via elections to be a more preferable way.
