Police interferes with first flashmob in Artsakh

On April 3, Artsakh hosted the fist flashmob dedicated to promotion of reading. About 15 people gathered at Stepanakert’s Revival Square to read a page out of their favorite books.

The event was timed to Yerevan 2012 World Book Capital program.

However, recently, certain circles in the republic have been expressing concern over youth actions. This time, police officers approached the young people demanding to leave the square. They cited violation of public order as a reason.

Coverage of the event to be broadcast on Artsakh Public Television was also cancelled.

Recently, certain circles in Artsakh show rather nervous response to youth initiatives. Thus, the rector of Arstaskh State University Stepan Dadayan was outraged with the February 28 march in commemoration of Sumgait victims, ArtsakhNews reported.
