RPA: less businessmen will have seats in new parliament

Less number of businessmen will have seats in the new parliament, according to a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

“After the 2012 parliamentary election, the influence of business on the Armenian parliament will vanish,” Gagik Melikyan told a press conference in Yerevan. “This is a global process and Armenia is not an exception.”

As to rumors that RPA started purging the ranks on the threshold of the parliamentary election, he said that it’s an ordinary process for the party which takes place periodically irrelative of scheduled elections.
