Vice Chairman of Heritage party Ruben Hakobyan said that early parliamentary election is advantageous for both the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and authorities.

“The pre-term parliamentary election can be used by the parties as an option for establishing a political dialogue, however, neither the people nor state will benefit from the authorities’ cooperation with ANC,” Hakobyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He noted that currently the ANC predominates among the opposition forces, for which organization of pre-term election is advantageous, since as soon as the public becomes aware of the deal with the authorities, its chances will considerably decrease during ordinary election.

As for the authorities, according to Hakobyan, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has strengthened its positions in the coalition with the recent joint statement and secured its leadership prior the next election.

Commenting on the possibility of pre-term presidential election, Hakobyan said that incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan is unlikely to make such concessions.
