A conference titled “Being an Armenian in Turkey” was initiated by Armenian NGOs in Brussels.

At the conference, Kemal Yalcin, a Germany-based Turkish writer, addressed those present in Armenian and Assyrian languages.

“History never forgives the crimes against humanity. The grief people went though must become a foundation for peace and justice. As a Turkish writer, I apologize to Armenians and Assyrians for the Genocide. I sincerely wish for the bridge on the border of Turkey and Armenia in Ani to be restored. I believe, a day will come when the two nations will meet at the bridge and toast to friendship,” Atilim.com quoted him as saying.

In 1994, Kemal Yalchir wrote a book Sari Gelin, portraying the lives of Armenian Genocide survivors who had to pretend to be Kurds.
