Armenian Minister: if media are fourth power, bloggers are fifth power

On April 11, Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan met with Armenian bloggers to discuss repatriation, procedure for meeting guests in the Ministry, as well as projects of the Ministry.

“If media are fourth power, then bloggers are fifth power,” said Hranush Hakobyan.

However, the Minister said she is not going to open her personal blog yet.

“We opened Pan-Armenian Youth Parliament group at Facebook and received over 200 comments and questions. This is a good way to communicate with people online, to receive questions and answer them,” noted Hakobyan.

Specking about high technologies, the Minister said she would like nanotechnologies to be introduced in Armenia.

Bloggers noticed that the website of the Ministry of Diaspora is in 3 languages, but it is not updated regularly.

Hakobyan welcomed similar comments: “We will consider your suggestions and do our utmost to improve the website.”

She added that the Ministry plans to create an online library and online map of the Armenian Diaspora.
