Armenian opposition needs to unify, National Accord party leader Aram Harutyunyan stated.According to him, the unified opposition has a chance of gaining more electoral votes than separate opposition parties. At the same time, coalition parties will have more votes at the elections when presented as separate entities, rather than a union, Harutyunyan said.

As he noted, since 2008, ANC has been aspiring for a monopoly at the opposition filed. However, he said, the situation has changed after Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian’s hunger strike. “ANC has drastically lowered its demands with the authorities, currently asking for concessions, rather than demanding.”

The National Accord leader expressed his wish to be presented at the elections a part of a unified opposition entity. At present, Harutyunyan is negotiating the possibility with other parties, with the exception of ANC. At February 18 ANC rally Harutyunyan was not allowed to deliver a statement.
