Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan agrees there are social and economic problems in the country. The Prime Minister expressed determination in working towards decreasing the level of poverty in Armenia. As he noted, in both opposition and coalition some are unhappy with the governmental policy.
“Clearly, there are economy growth-related issues in Armenia. This fact is explained by a drastic slump in the sector of construction, which used to provide 30% of economy growth,” Sargsyan said.
In contrast to other CIS stated, Armenia's financial sector managed to withstand the global economic crisis. The construction sector, however, suffered significant losses, estimated at 40%.
