Georgia opens Upper Lars checkpoint for 5 hours

Spokesperson for the North Ossetian Ministry of Emergency Situations Yulia Starchenko said that Georgia opened Upper Lars checkpoint for 5 hour to allow passage of transit vehicles from the Russian side.

The Ministry urged everyone to refrain from traveling towards the checkpoint, as it will be again closed.

Upper Lars checkpoint located at the North Ossetian part of the Russian-Georgian border was closed on April 12 due to heavy snowfall at Krestovy pass.
