Georgian Minister on Genocide: Georgia shares in pain of Armenian people

Georgia shares in the pain of the Armenian people, Georgian Defense Minister said.

At a joint news conference with his Armenian counterpart Seyran Ohanyan, Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia was asked to comment on Georgia’s non-recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“We commiserate with Armenian people, Georgian people share in your pain,” he said.

Until now, Georgia hasn’t recognized the fact of the Armenian Genocide. Recently, Georgia’s Armenian community has once again addressed the president and parliament of Georgia with a request to discuss the issue of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The letters with a request to initiate a draft law were sent to the country’s president, heads of parliamentary groups, as well as Georgian MPs of Armenian origin.
