Armenian refuses to comment on declarations suggesting NPP closure

Armenian government’s Nuclear Security Committee chairman Ashot Martirosyan commented on statements of neighbouring countries suggesting closure of Armenian NPPs at news conference in Yerevan.

“No international treaty allows a country to demand closure of an NPP in the neighbouring state,” he stressed.

Martirosyan urged against attaching importance to neighbouring countries’ media reports, often providing incorrect information. “Issues on increase of NPP security are duly addressed and discussed with our partners and organisations in charge, IAEA, EU, U.S. However, we refuse to comment on suchlike declarations,” he stressed.
