Program Manager of Caucasus Research Resource Centers-Armenia (CRRC) Yevgenya Paturyan said that majority of Armenians refrains from taking bribes, but is ready to bribe if needed.

According to Paturyan, this is proved by researches conducted by USAID Mobilizing Action Against Corruption (MAAC) Activity.

Paturyan said a public opinion poll indicated high level of morality among Armenians, since over half of 1500 respondents rejected the idea of taking bribes.

“Majority of respondents said that it is unacceptable for them to take a bribe, while only 10% of them admitted they would reject a bribe for the risk of being punished,” she said.

Paturyan noted that 80% of respondents believe that the society can do nothing for tackling corruption.

The Office of Prosecutor, as well as judicial, healthcare, electoral and educational institutions are perceived as the most corrupted structures by majority of Armenians, concluded Paturyan.
