Armenian MP: youth is too politicized in republic

Baze club of the Armenian Youth Foundation hosted a discussion on involvement of the Armenian youth in the country’s political and public life.

According to head of Baze club Samvel Mertarjyan, the discussion is dedicated to problems of youth. “Youth is rather active, it is just necessary to listen to it and coordinate its work,” Mertarjyan told journalists before the discussion.

Member of the Armenian parliament Karen Avagyan noted for his part that Armenia’s youth is too politicized.

“Our youth, unfortunately, is basically engaged in political processes instead of dealing with other spheres,” he said.

He pointed to the example of youth parliament. “Many young people, who want to join it, even do not know with what the youth parliament will deal,” Avagyan said ironically.

He urged young people to get more actively involved in other processes taking place in the country, in addition to politics.
