The Libyan ambassador to the UK has left the country's London embassy and is believed to be on his way to leaving the UK after being ordered to go.

On Sunday, May 1, the Foreign Office gave Omar Jelban 24 hours to leave the UK following attacks on British embassy premises in Libya's capital Tripoli, BBC reported.

Turkey said on Monday, May 2 it was evacuating staff from its embassy in Tripoli after attacks by angry crowds on several European embassies in the Libyan capital following a NATO airstrike that killed a son of Muammar Gaddafi, according to Reuters.

“We decided to evacuate our embassy in Tripoli temporarily due to security reasons,” Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters. “Our ambassador to Tripoli has traveled safely to Tunisia in the morning. Turkey is closely monitoring the changing security conditions in Libya.”
