Former residents of N. Artsakh urge OSCE MG to focus on their villages’ occupation

Former residents of Getashen, Martunashen and Shahumyan regions of Nagorno Karabakh demand from the OSCE Minsk Group and international community that they raise the issue of northern Artsakh occupation by Azerbaijan in negotiations for the Karabakh conflict settlement.

Head of Shahumyan-Getashen union of compatriots Edik Balayan told a press conference in Yerevan that northern Artsakh is still occupied by Azerbaijan.

“We demand determination of the status of northern Artsakh. When parties speak about compromises and territorial concessions, one should not forget that Azerbaijan has occupied territories of Artsakh and deported its Armenian population,” said Balayan.

He noted that the Armenian Foreign Ministry assured former residents of northern Artsakh that the matter of their future and status will be discussed during next stages of negotiations.
