Foreign fashion designers to tour Armenia

Five foreign fashion designers will tour Armenia to familiarize themselves with Armenia’s culture as part of Fashion Road: Dialogue across Borders project.

After completion of the project, which will last from May 3 to 5, the project participants will visit museums, cultural and historical sites of Armenia to raise awareness of the country’s culture, everyday life and national costumes, British Council Armenia Director Arevik Saribekyan told journalists.

As part of the project, the designers will be paired to work together to prepare their collections which will contextualize the cultural heritage, values and traditions of the participating countries which they explored during their residencies. The collection prepared by the designers will raise understanding and appreciation of European cultural values and identity among the Armenian public as well as the Armenian cultural history and heritage among Europeans.

The project received the support of the European Union through the Culture Fund.

For the first time members of EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) – the British Council, Goethe-Institute, Institutul Cultural Roman, the Danish Cultural Institute, the Czech Centers implement a joint project in Armenia. The partner in Armenia is the Armenian Fashion Council.

Cafesjian Arts Center, partner of the project, will host basic events, as well as the collection exhibition.
