Serbian Interior Minister says partition of Kosovo only solution

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that the partition of Kosovo was the only real solution, Beta reported.

"I think that the only realistic solution is that the parts where the Serbs live be kept by Serbia and the other part, inhabited by the Albanians, be allowed to break off. That is the only realistic path to a quick solution," Dacic told the Pristina-based Zeri daily. "Other solutions mean a waste of time and it could take years and decades of attempts to solve just minor issues," Dacic explained.

Asked whether he was recommending the partitioning of Kosovo, the minister replied: "That is my opinion, although it is being espoused by neither Belgrade nor Pristina. However, I am just a realistic politician and I see no other solution."

Dacic recalled that Kosovo's independence "is not a settled question since it is not being acknowledged" universally.

"If you want to be a part of the EU, you have to have Serbia's consent, but, the way that we have been going at it, it will be 20 years before we have solutions," Dacic told the daily.
