Turkish Finance Minister may be appointed IMF head

Turkey considers proposing Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek as head of the IMF instead of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, if the latter leaves his post in connection with the recent scandal, local media reported on May 16, according to RIA Novosti.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was arrested in New York on Sunday. He is charged with attempting to rape a hotel maid.

New York police reportedly yanked Strauss-Kahn, 62, from an Air France jet to Paris at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Saturday afternoon, moments before the plane was due to take off.
