TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER THINKS FRANCE CAN NO LONGER BE A MEDIATOR IN THE KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT
31.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem said that the Armenian bill, signed by French President Jacques Chirac on January 30 overshadowed France's role in mediating for a resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijan's dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to world news agencies, Cem said that "Turkey no longer trusts France's impartial, objective and useful mediation". "The chances that the Azerbaijani people have a different opinion are slim," he said.
France, Russia and the US are the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs for the Karabakh conflict settlement. --0--
