The President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek characterised the recent release of the Armenian opposition representatives as a promising step.

As Mr. Buzek told a news conference in Yerevan, during the meeting with the Armenian authorities he was assured of a fair investigation of each case.

Supremacy of law, reforms in legal system were discussed during the meeting between the EP President and the Armenian authorities. “Struggle against corruption and the supremacy of law are important not only from human rights viewpoint, but also from that of the economy development. Anti-corruption struggle will promote foreign investment in Armenia's economy,” Mr. Buzek noted.
