On May 25, the Armenian parliament discussed the no-confidence motion brought against the government by the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group.

The group submitted an official written inquiry to the government in April, which contained questions concerning the reasons behind the current social and economic situation and lack of actions to prevent emigration.

Member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Armen Rustamyan said in the parliament that the government’s answer has grounded the doubts and concerns of the parliamentary group rather than dispelled them. There is an impression that the Armenian government was taking some actions, while stating and thinking secretly about other things, Rustamyan said.

In response to it, Armenian Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan said the government’s policy has not deviated from the declared one. According to him, the global financial crisis has affected all the states, specifically developing ones. Gabrielyan noted that under such conditions the situation requires certain corrections, what is implemented by the government.

The Armenian parliamentarians voted 13 to 10 to reject the no-confidence motion brought against the government.
