Each party to Karabakh conflict sees in “renewed principles” whatever it deems right

Dmitry Medvedev, Barack Obama and Nicolas Sarkozy demand that the sides achieve compromise by June, while the sides themselves, Armenia and Azerbaijan, have yet demonstrated no will for rapprochement, a Russian political expert stated.

“Armenia insists on Karabakh representatives’ involvement in peace talks, wile Baku is only ready to agree to Karabakh autonomy, as a part of Azerbaijan,” Sergey Markedonov stressed.

As the expert reminded, at Sochi-hosted Russia-Armenia-Azerbaijan presidential meeting, the parties agreed on common understanding of “principles”, which is definitely not enough to achieve progress, to say nothing of military rhetoric and demonstrative maneuvers at the front line. At the same time, every party tends to see in “renewed principles” whatever it deems right,” novopol.ru cited Markedonov as saying.
