Amnestied oppositionist Sasun Mikaelyan says May 31 ANC rally crucial

Armenian National Congress (ANC) must give a new impetus to the national movement, according to a recently amnestied ex-parliamentarian.

Sasun Mikaelyan characterized today’s ANC rally as crucial, noting that Armenian people proved they are not to be spoken to in the language of brutal force. “The success achieved is the victory of the people as well as the results of political calculation and wisdom of ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian.

According to Mikaelyan, crucial changes are in progress, with new relations formed between the authorities and the opposition and prerequisites for restoration of constitutional order created. “All of this gives hope for resolution of current issues and return of power to the people,” he stressed.
