Former residents of Azeri-occupied Northern Artsakh demand issue to be addressed

The head of Shahumyan-Getashen expatriates' union drew attention to Azerbaijan's occupation of Northern Artsakh

“The issue cannot be left unattended,” Edik Balayan said at a Yerevan-hosted news conference on the 19th anniversary of Shahumyan occupation by Azerbaijan.

“The union has repeatedly called on OSCE Minsk Group to dispatch a monitoring group to Northern Artsakh, where Azeri authorities are conducting active policy of resettlement. However, we were never responded,” Balayan remarked.

“Former population of Northern Artsakh is unhappy with OSCE MG's biased position on the issue. According to them, the Organisation only fulfils Azerbaijan's demands.”

As Balayan specifically pointed out, the Northern Artsakh has no future as a part of Azerbaijan. “The issue will never be addressed until NKR becomes involved in negotiations,” Balayan emphasized.
