Armenia's Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the United States Department of State Thomas Melia in Yerevan.

The head of Armenia's Special Investigation Service Andranik Mirzoyan also attended the meeting, Prosecutor General's press service reported.

At the request of Mr. Melia, the Prosecutor General briefed him on the course of March 2008 events investigation, presenting the work accomplished. As Mr. Hovsepyan stressed, to resolve the issue, Armenia requested international structures for professional and expert assistance, also addressing CoE Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg.

However, as the Prosecutor General noted, details of the deaths of 10 people during March 2010 events remain unrevealed.

From February 20, 2008, the Armenian opposition led by first president Levon Ter-Petrossian, who ran for presidency in 2008, but was not elected, held rallies in the central part of Yerevan, protesting against the election results. The protest actions resulted in unrest and clashes between the police and rally participants on March 1-2. According to the Office of RA Prosecutor General, around 200 people were injured, 10 people were killed, and over 100 people were arrested.
