Turkey is becoming progressively independent in its foreign policy, which might lead to isolation of Turkish diplomacy, according to Oriental Studies Institute director.
As professor Ruben Safrastyan told a news conference in Yerevan, after parliamentary elections, Turkey will attempt to spread the policy of Neo-Ottomanism in Middle East, specifically, Syria.
“Note that after the elections, Turkish authorities announced intensification of activities in Syria. It’s not excluded that Turkey will attempt at playing its game in Syria, increasing its presence in the country,” Safrastyan said.
“Turkey’s foreign policy on Caucasus has been passive so far, which is explained by a situation in Syria and all of the Middle East,” the expert concluded.
