Major decrease in juvenile crime reported in Armenia

A 15,9% decrease in juvenile crime rate was reported over January-June 2011 against last year’s results, according to Nelly Duryan, the head of Armenian police department for juvenile affairs.

As she told a news conference in Yerevan, 169 juvenile crimes were committed over the reporting period ageist 200 crimes last year.

Over the span indicated a significant drop in second offences was reported, due to prophylactic activities initiated by structures in charge.

In conclusion, Ms. Duryan stressed the necessity of character building within the children’s families, schools and social organisations in prevention of juvenile crimes.
