Foursquare community has over 10 million members

The Foursquare Official Blog announced about its new acquirement : the Foursquare community has reached over 10 million members.

According to statistical data, there are 358 million check ins outside of the U.S. Also there is a statistics of where people go and life moments.

According to life moments statistics, there were 1061 birth announcements in hospital check-ins, 1750 congratulations in comments, 804 weddings in parks, 5321 weddings in churches, 225 weddings in city halls. And the mayorship statistic is 78 387 venue mayors each day.

According to Arpine Grigoryan, Ambassador of Foursquare Community in Armenia, there are about 300-400 members in the Armenian Foursquare Community.

Foursquare was founded in 2009. It is a location-based social networking website based on software for mobile devices. This service is available to users with GPS-enabled mobile devices such as smartphones. Users "check-in" at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application by running the application and selecting from a list of venues that the application locates nearby. Each check-in awards the user points and sometimes "badges".
