Georgia has no offer to unite with Turkey and Azerbaijan yet

No proposal on creation of union between Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan was received by Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to GHN.

“We have not received an official proposal yet. On the whole, President of Georgia Mikhail Sahakashvili made earlier suchlike proposals on creation of united Caucasian zone, however no specification on the initiative followed,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze told a briefing.

Akhmed Shirinov, Director of Strategic Planning, in his turn, made an offer to create new political economic union last week. The point of the idea is to create a Union between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia based on the same principles like EU, that is, united social economic area with the single currency, single customs area. This will also require creation of new single Parliament, Government as well as other structures, according to him.
