Armenian authorities suggest opposition to cooperate to improve electoral procedures in the country, according to the head of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group.

As Galust Sahakyan stated at news conference in Yerevan, when commenting on Armenian National Congress (ANC) demand to organize snap elections, “extraordinary elections are harmful to any country.”

In reply to ANC threats to demand resignation of current authorities unless pre-term elections are organized in the months to come, Sahakyan ironized, “ANC has been demanding resignation of the authorities for 3 years already.”

During June 30 rally of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), its leader Levon Ter-Petrossian stated that the dialogue should focus on key issues, specifically, snap elections and establishment of legitimate power in the country. He said that unless the authorities satisfy their demands this time, next time they will demand for the immediate resignation of current President.

Next rally is scheduled for August 1.
