Turkey lifts ban on using headscarved photos in university enrollment process

Turkey's testing body has abolished a rule barring students from using headscarved photos in the enrollment process.

Turkey's Student Selection and Placement Center, or ÖSYM, has removed a sentence from the Higher Education and Quota Guidebook that laid out the conditions for the photos used during enrollment.

The removed sentence read "the photo should be a maximum six months old, taken face forward with head uncovered and should allow easy identification of the candidate."

Removal of this sentence effectively ended the ban on using headscarved photos when applying to universities, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
