NKR President’s aide Karen Baburyan dies

Nagorno Karabakh President’s aide Karen Baburyan died on July 8 morning, according to head of Artsakh President's press office David Babayan.

“The cause of death was cardiac arrest. On the way from Yerevan to Stepanakert, somewhere near Ararat, Baburyan felt bad and was taken to the hospital where he died,” Babayan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Karen Baburyan was born in 1954 in Stepanakert. In 1980-1992, he worked in executive bodies of Nagorno Karabakh. In 1992, he was elected a Chairman of NKR Supreme council standing commission on capital building and legal issues.

In 1993, Baburyan was appointed the acting Chairman of NKR Supreme council and from 1995-1997, he was a Chairman of NKR Parliament. From May to November 1997 he held the office of NKR Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. From November 1997, he headed legal department of NKR President’s Apparatus. And since April 2001, he was a Secretary of Security Council to NKR President.
