Sargsyan extends condolences to Medvedev over tourist boat wreck

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a condolence letter to his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev over the wreck of Bulgaria tourist boat that sank in Volga river on July 10 morning.

President Sargsyan expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished health to those who survived, the presidential press office reported.

The ship, built in 1955 and renovated 30 years ago, had no license for carrying passengers and had a number of safety faults, including a broken engine and a list to starboard as well as being grossly overloaded. According to latest data reported by RIA Novosti, 205 people were onboard when the vessel capsized and sank in three minutes. The Emergencies Ministry confirmed the death of 73 people, 11 of them children.
