The dialogue between authorities and Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc reminds a “house of cards which will collapse immediately after the first meeting,” according to head of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) Ruben Tovmasyan.

“I do not understand how and why the ANC was established, which did nothing but engaged in discrediting the authorities. And after all, what dialogue are they talking about?” Tovmasyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

As he said, both authorities and ANC pursue similar policy and do not tackle the social and economic problems of the country. Tovmasyan is confident that the whole process of the so called authorities-ANC dialogue, which he believes was prompted by the western powers, will turn into demagogy.

Last week, Armenian President’s spokesman Armen Arzumanyan announced that the coalition forces formed a group consisting of 2 members from each party to negotiate with the opposition. The first meeting will take place within next 10 days.

Arzumanyan said that the coalition parties formed a respective task force including two representatives from each party.

The ruling coalition of Armenia includes Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia and Orinats Yerkir Party.

ANC reiterates that the main issue to be discussed with the authorities is extraordinary Parliamentary and Presidential elections, what is described by the coalition forces as unacceptable.
