Energy Ministry: Russian gas tariffs in Armenia yet unchanged

Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan commented on recent media reports suggesting increase of Russian gas tariffs as of July 1. “Russian gas price in Armenia (USD 180 per 1000 cubic meters) will remain unchanged till April 1, 2012, contrary to recent media reports, suggesting price upsurge of USD 210 per 1000 cubic meters as of July 1,” the Minister told a news conference in Yerevan.

As the head of Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) Robert Nazaryan stated on April 4, the gas price was among key issues on the agenda of talks between Armenian and Russian Presidents. “It was agreed that the tariffs will remain unchangeable,” he said, commenting on rumors about the impending rise in prices for the Russian gas.

As the PSRC head noted, in case ArmRosgazprom and Gazprom sign a contract envisaging change of tariffs, it should be immediately submitted to the Commission.
